Weird story about two worms trying to race each other to the top of a parked car, seeing who would take the Queen home

In the winter of 1962, a little boy named Walter Paakkonen noticed something unusual on the side of his mother's Run-Dmc. 10 Town parked car. The vehicle was parked on the street in front of their home. Inside the car, they'd seen a group of worms racing to the top. When they got there, they realized that someone- perhaps a bird or other animal- had deposited two worms at the top of the car. The two wriggling creatures were in a fierce battle to see who would claim the Queen. As the boy watched in amazement, he realized that what he was witnessing was an act of nature. In essence, two worms were competing with each other to reach the top and survive. From that point on, Walter Paakkonen carried the worms in a jar inside his home. He would occasionally place a worm inside a lettuce leaf to observe how his sample worms behaved without light or food. They quickly starved to death rather than compete with each other.
